Press Release: EFA finalizes the “RO06 Renewable Energy” Program – Rondine funded under EEA Grants 2009-2014

The Environment Fund Administration, as Programme Operator of the RO06 Renewable Energy Program Rondine, organized on Thursday, November 9, 2017, the event to complete the Program financed under EEA Grants 2009-2014.

The event brought together representatives of the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Romania, Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Iceland in Romania, the Ministry of Regional Development, Public Administration and European Funds, representatives of Program Partners from the Donor States, namely the Norwegian Water and Energy Directorate and the National Energy Authority of Iceland, representatives of other Program Operators in Romania, as well as of project promoters within this program.

The Renewable Energy Financing Program (RO 06 Renewable Energy) aimed at sustainable use of natural resources and reducing greenhouse gas emissions by capitalizing on renewable energy sources, namely hydroelectric and geothermal potential.

Under the program, 6 projects were completed for which payments amounting to 28,314,690.02 lei were made.

Within the program were carried out the following: a geothermal plant in Oradea, Bihor County, a geothermal plant representing a new thermal energy production capacity for the Emergency Hospital, Prof. Dr. Agrippa lonescu from Balotești, Ilfov County, 8 research studies on the implementation of completed hydropower pilot projects, 130 people who participated in geothermal workshops and short courses; 4 students who completed the six-month course of the United Nations University Geothermal Training Program in Iceland, a pre-feasibility study on the geothermal heating system in Oradea and a pre-feasibility study on the geothermal heating system in Beiuș.
